Purchasing a side of beef or hog
In purchasing a side, or quarter of beef or pork from Moody Meats, you can rest assured you will be providing your family meat from animals raised in West Central Indiana by family farmers not factory farms. You should also know that my staff is not paid by the "pounds per hour" to process beef and pork. This assures that you receive the same quality found in our retail meat cases.
What you will receive is a custom cut and custom wrapped product geared toward your family's portions. Two, Three, Four steaks per package? One, one and a half, or two pounds of ground beef per package? No problem. That's what we do! A staff member will gladly go over your custom cut sheet at the time you place your order
On a beef payment is simply a flat charge for the pounds of meat you receive. No confusing live, rail, or hanging weight formulas. Here is an example of a recent half beef: 180 pounds of product at $5.19 per pound = $934.20. The price is based on market price the day we purchase your beef. Please ask for our current beef price as the market price fluctuates often. This is an over the counter savings of between $262 and $280, depending on your cuts.
The lead-time for a beef is approximately six to eight weeks to allow for selection, scheduling, and proper aging of beef.
On a hog you will purchase the hog for $.63 a pound of its live weight plus a $100 flat fee for processing. If you want your hams, sides (bacon), jowl, or hocks cured and smoked there is a $.75 per pound of green weight (prior to curing) fee. It is as simple as that.
You can also purchase an entire lamb for processing. It is $150 for the cost of the lamb and $85 for us to process it.
For us to run linked sausages on any type of meat it is $1.25 a pound and for patties it is $.50 a pound.
